The Farm at Avebury has been under the stewardship of my husband's family for more than one hundred years (and four generations). To stay ahead of the changes in the world of farming, we opened The Stables in August. It is an exciting new chapter, particularly as we have Katrina Littleton (2001) on The Farm Team.
A short hop from London, you can come and stay in one of six, brand new, beautifully appointed rooms - inside the former stables. Whatismore, the Farm is available to rent on an exclusive use basis (sleeping up to 23), for corporate and other private events in one of two versatile spaces.
The six, contemporary stables are clustered around a landscaped courtyard - think wild flowers in corten steel planters, a bespoke water feature and fire pits – and sleep between two and six people. Examples include the largest: Silbury Hill, a split level, three bedroom, two bathroom complex with views of its namesake, a neolithic mound comparable in height and volume to the Egyptian Pyramids.
The stables were designed by Polly Ashman, of Polly Ashman Interior Design and feature Fermoie fabrics, Pookie lamps, Artisan of Devizes tiles, paint colours by Farrow and Ball (Skulking Room Pink, anyone?) and artwork of the surrounding landscapes by Becky Borthwick. Designed with a sense of (chic) adventure in mind, the second storey of the split level rooms are accessed by wooden step ladder or climbing wall.
The Farm at Avebury has two event spaces to choose from - The Granary and The Barn. Both spaces boast character in spades and can be hired in conjunction with The Stables or separately, for a stand-alone event. They are versatile, and can host - amongst other things - business lunches, wedding celebrations and yoga retreats. The Granary can even be hired out as a professional working space or treatment room if you need a massage!
The Farm is situated inside the Avebury World Heritage site, a UNESCO-protected landscape that can claim some of the world's most exciting ancient sites, like the burial ground at West Kennet Long Barrow (perfect for fans of Netflix's The Dig). More modern additions include a host of excellent pubs and restaurants - we are always on hand to recommend their favourites and help with bookings.
