Woldingham Parents and Staff Association (WPSA) was set up to nurture the relationship between the parents and staff at Woldingham School through social events, fundraising activity, open days and by providing support for events at school.
The constitution sets out a maximum of 21 members to include a chairman, vice-chair, secretary and treasurer and it is usual to have 2-3 parents from each year group. Ideally with a mix of London and local parents per year on board.
There is a meeting of the whole committee and relevant staff members at the beginning of each term.
The Year Rep will liaise between the Committee and their year group parents, providing information and feedback to the committee and circulating information to the parents via ClassList.
WPSA organise a variety of events each year. These key events are allocated to different year groups and the rest of the committee will encourage their year groups to attend and support.
The events are as follows:
AUTUMN TERM
Treasure Hunt for Year 7, organised by Year 8
Fireworks, organised by Year 9
Mulled Wine and Mince Pies - organised by U6 on the last morning of Michaelmas term
SPRING TERM
London Event - usually a Quiz Night in February. Organised by a London Rep team
Easter Hot Cross Buns - organised by L6 on the last morning of Lent term
SUMMER TERM
Sponsored Walk - biennial event walking from the school grounds and raising money for charities of each of the girls houses.
Parent v Staff Rounders Match & BBQ - May event.
Summer Event - organised by a sub-committee
Sports Day – organised by Year 10 with assistance from Year 7 to run the Pimms & Soft Drinks tent and Year 8 to run the tea tent.
Additional events are also organised by the reps for their year groups at their discretion, for example, coffee mornings, lunches, evenings out etc. The usual format is to organise a coffee morning per term, normally in the first half of the term - this is an opportunity to feedback any responses from questions raised at the WPSA meeting with staff. A lunch prior to the annual year group parents/staff meeting has also proved to be successful.
