On Monday 17 January, Sixth Form members of Woldingham’s Tech Society and students taking Computer Science A Level took a trip to East London’s Tech City, also known as Silicon Roundabout.
We began with a walking tour of the local area and it was fascinating to take a peek into life in the millennial working world. Our tour guide captured everyone’s attention by explaining the development and globalisation of the tech industry and we walked around Google Startup and Amazon’s headquarters.
After a hearty lunch, we had an inspiring talk about marketing, tech, business and entrepreneurial spirit by leading tech CEO Chris Donnelly. The talk really got us thinking about starting our own businesses. We next spent some fun time in Microsoft on Oxford Street. Here we were introduced to many new and exciting hardware and software, which allowed us to work competitively and collaboratively together. The trip concluded with a short journey to Camden and a sensational meal at the Cheese Bar - a wonderful way to finish our day.
