Upper Sixth students took time out from their A Level studies and university applications to develop their networking skills at one of two breakfast events, held on Tuesday 16 and 23 November. Students had the opportunity to speak to guests from a variety of professions, from PR, marketing and event management to casting and the aviation industry. Students asked questions about the skills and personal qualities required for guests’ careers, exploring how they sought out and secured opportunities in their field and finding out how they made decisions at different points in their career.
Guests rotated around the room, allowing networking conversations to flourish. This also provided students with the opportunity to speak to people outside of their chosen career and find new insights into other areas of interest they hadn’t previously considered.
The networking breakfasts are part of a busy autumn term for the Higher Education & Careers team, running numerous events and meeting with all our Upper Sixth students to submit their UK and international university applications, alongside degree apprenticeship applications. Our next events, both online, are an International Higher Education Evening on Monday 29 November and an Oxbridge Evening on Wednesday 1 December.
