The circus came to town – or rather to Pergola Lawn – to kick off end of year celebrations on Tuesday 5 July. In the ‘baby’ big top, Circus Sensible entertained students with a variety of juggling acts, sword swallowing, unicycling and more. Undaunted by the prospect of getting up close to clubs, knives and flames, there was no shortage of student “victims” to join in the very amusing and highly skilled acts. Students then had fun trying out some of the tricks themselves in group workshops, led by the Circus Sensible team.
After the circus, it was time for the Summer Festival Fair in the kitchen garden. A fantastic feat of organisation by the Ribbons team, there were stalls and sideshows galore, from test your strength to a rodeo bull, and popcorn to crêpes cooked-while-you-wait by Mme Maillot. All funds raised at the fair will be used for bursaries for our new students from Ukraine.
Finally, it was party time! Party on the Pitches, to be precise – Sports Day’s distant cousin, with Houses competing in sack, egg and spoon, and space hopper races, on an obstacle course, and on the much-loved go-karts.
An action-packed day to (almost) conclude an action-packed year.
